While some people in the imets family are quite happy that Steve Trachsel is no longer a met, I am actually upset about it for a number of reasons.
- Right now the Mets are attempting to bring in many young arms into the rotation. Trax could have provided leadership that could have really helped the future pitchers of this organization.
- Trax was 15-8 last year, which is not spectacular but is solid for a number 3 starter(he was turned into the 4th after Orlando Hernandez came over)
- His experience could have been very helpful in the postseason(which is where the Mets should be going every year)
And last but not least
- The Mets rotation sucks

THE NEW METS SLOGAN IS.... YOUR SEASON HAS COME **Posted by Allan** Wow, thats so boring. At least now all the Shankee fans cant say"The Team, The Time, The Choke" anymore. Seriouly, how annoying did those The Team, The Time commercials become. A few, ok, but the fit it in with every single thing that happened to the team last year, it was just to much "The Team, The Time, The New Slogan"!

According to metsblog.com, Mets pitcher Steve Schmoll has cleared waivers and has been assigned to AAA New Orleans(wow, thats so weird to say). -This is good. The Mets farm is a little weak in the relif pitching area besides for Joe Smith so Schmolls a ok option if Filthy Sanchez or Juan Padillia are backed up by their injuries.

At his blog for the Daily News, Adam Rubin posts a collection of quotes from Carlos Beltran, who talked with the media from Tradition Field this afternoon. On striking out to end Game 7, Beltran told reporters… “We did a great job as a team. Unfortunately, me being the last out of the season wasn’t the best picture of it. I’ve just got to say that I did the best I could…I saw it, but I couldn't do anything with it.” I, Personally don't think it is his fault! If you blame him than you should blame FLOYD and everyone that hit before BELTRAN and got out!

YAY! The Tampa Tribune E-Mailed ME AGAIN!! Seth McClung really isn't in a position to seek perfection just yet. The Devil Rays' closer-in-progress boils down his ninth-inning approach succinctly: "Hopefully we get three outs before I give up a run." Trevor Hoffman, he's not. Nor does he claim to be. Less than a year removed from a midseason sabbatical in Durham to learn a new trade, McClung is still trying to get a handle on the nuances of a job that may not even be his come Opening Day. Manager Joe Maddon has said he has no problem beginning the season without a defined closer, but it appears McClung will get the first shot at retaining the job. He converted six of seven save opportunities last year, adventurous as they may have been. Particularly in the closer's role, results are the bottom line, but McClung walked an awfully tightrope last season. Allowing 22 hits and walking 21 in 22 1/3 innings as a reliever is not a formula for long-term success. Control has always been a bugaboo for the hulking right-hander, but he believes he has a handle on how to address his woes. McClung is coming off Tommy John Surgery(For those of you that didn't Know)

According to Ed Coleman at WFAN, Jose Reyes may not be doing his professer Reyes between innings. The job may go to Aaron Heilman.(?) -This stinks, I loved Reyes making those faces when the fans pronounced the spanish word very wrong. But I guess hes moving on to bigger and better things!

Major League Baseball announced a number of changes for in-game rules, starting this season. This marks the first time that the rules have been changed since 1996, when the strike zone was redefined. Among the changes, is the modification to the rule regarding regulation tie games. Previously, a game that had been called with the score tied in the bottom of the fifth inning or later was deemed a tie, to be replayed in its entirety, though player statistics count. However, the new rule stipulates a tied regulation game that is stopped now will be suspended and resumed before the next scheduled game between the same two clubs on the same grounds. That game could also take place at the visiting club's grounds, if no more games remain at the original club's home park. There would be only one case in which a called game would be replayed in its entirety - if there were no scheduled games remaining between the two clubs and if it would affect a playoff spot. The following are some other changes to rules to be implemented for the 2007 season: Pitchers are now allowed to wear multi-colored gloves so long as the glove is not, in the judgment of the umpire, distracting. Rule 3.02, which states no player shall intentionally discolor or damage the ball by rubbing it with soil, rosin, paraffin, licorice, sand-paper, emery- paper or other foreign substance, has been amended to provide an automatic 10- game suspension for any position player who intentionally defaces the ball. In order to avoid unnecessary delays, Rule 8.04 was amended. When the bases are unoccupied, the pitcher shall deliver the ball to the batter within 12 seconds after he receives the ball. Each time the pitcher delays the game by violating this rule, the umpire shall call "Ball." The 12-second timing starts when the pitcher is in possession of the ball and the batter is in the box, alert to the pitcher. The timing stops when the pitcher releases the ball. I think the rules are babyish. GOOD LUCK TRAX WITH THAT 8.04!

"Little by little," he said through a translator. So, what food has he learned to like thus far? "Hot dog," he said in English. Thats all he will be throwing to the AL EAST, CENTRAL, and WEST!
